Open Enrollment 2023 starts on November 1, 2022. Open Enrollment is the period of time when individuals and families can apply for health insurance, make changes to their existing applications, or shop for a new plan. Fishing Partnership Navigators are experts at helping fishing families and community members apply for health insurance, and we offer free assistance to any MA resident under the age of 65. If You Already Have Insurance Through Health Connector
If you have insurance through the Health Connector, it’s time to review your information, make updates to income or other changes and pay your premium by December 23, 2022 to ensure coverage begins on January 1, 2023. Once Open Enrollment has ended, you still may be eligible to enroll in coverage – reach out to a Navigator anytime during the year to check your eligibility and options.
Your Income May Have Changed
Whether you’re a commercial fisherman or not, your premium is based on your income, so it’s important to review and make sure information is accurate. Self-employed income? New baby this year? Worked fewer hours? Our Navigators know the right questions to ask to make sure your application is current.

QUALIFING EVENTS FOR ENROLLING ANYTIME/YEAR-ROUND
Many families can enroll outside of Open Enrollment, so don’t hesitate to contact us any time of year, especially if you’re experiencing a major life change, such as:
- Birth/Adoption of a child
- Marriage or Divorce
- New Resident to Massachusetts
- Loss of job-based coverage or COBRA
- Turning 26 & no longer being eligible for a parent’s plan
