Massachusetts Seafood Day 2019

Fishing Partnership’s Massachusetts Seafood Day 2019 took place at in the Great Hall of the State House on October 10, 2019. The event celebrated our heroic local fishermen and the diverse, sustainable bounty they provide to the Commonwealth. Guests welcomed included legislators and government officials, industry leaders, fishermen and the public. The celebration provided an opportunity for state and government leaders, legislators, and staff gain a deeper understanding of Massachusett’s commercial fishing industry through interactions with fishermen and representatives from across the industry.

The Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries sponsored the event and various seafood industry donors provided generous support, including donations of fresh, local seafood prepared by Snapchef, New England’s premier on-demand culinary staffing solution.  In addition, live music and interactive displays made the day educational and fun for all.

The ambition of Massachusetts Annual Seafood Day is to remind legislators, state officials and the public about the importance of the local Massachusetts commercial seafood industry and help others gain a deeper understanding of:

  • The diversity of fish species caught and landed in Massachusetts waters.

  • The economic benefits of the seafood industry to the Commonwealth.

  • The dedication and bravery of the fishermen who bring us this sustainable bounty.
