DESCRIPTION:Massachusetts Annual Open Enrollment runs from 11/1/24 – 1/23/25\, and thanks to a grant from the Massachusetts Health Connector we can now help any MA resident enroll in health  insurance. Open Enrollment is the time of year when individuals and families can apply for health insurance\, make changes to their existing applications\, or shop for a new plan. Whether you’re a fisherman\, shellfisherman\, shoreside fishing industry worker\, or resident of the state of Massachusetts\, Fishing Partnership Navigators are here to help at no cost to you. Additional cost savings are available: Individuals who earn up to $72\,900 (or a family of 4 earning up to $150\,000) are now eligible for lower premiums with additional health plan options.  \nIf you don’t have insurance\, please apply by contacting one of our Navigators or by going directly to www.mahealthconnector.org. Our Navigators can assist you in choosing the best plan for you and your family. SUMMARY:Oceans of Recovery Meeting
DESCRIPTION:OCEANS OF RECOVERY MEETING Fishing Partnership offers an Oceans of Recovery Meeting weekly. It is a one-hour peer to peer support group led by Rob Jardin. These sessions encourage healthy discussions on education\, peer and family support\, recovery and freedom from substance use disorder. Commercial fishermen and members of fishing families are invited to join Rob for support and conversations on strategies to attain freedom from substance use disorder. \nABOUT SUBSTANCE USE DISORDER Substance use disorder [SUD] is a disease that affects a person’s brain and behavior and leads to an inability to control the use of a legal or illegal drug or medication. Substances such as alcohol\, marijuana\, opioids and nicotine also are considered drugs. When you suffer from substance use disorder\, you may continue using the drug despite the harm it causes. At the Oceans of Recovery meeting\, fishermen that have successfully found freedom from harmful substances share stories and offer support and conversation for overcoming SUD. Each week’s session can vary\, periodically featured speakers and professionals join the conversation to offer strategies and resources for fishermen facing SUD.
